A bunk room is often the room that sells the house to a family. It's also the room that takes the most abuse. Kids climb it, jump from it, hang off the rails, and the cleaner has to strip and remake every bed before the next group shows up the same afternoon.
We build bunks in our Kissimmee shop, and we also get called to fix the ones that didn't hold up. This guide is what we look at on both sides: what keeps guests safe, what keeps your cleaners fast, and what keeps the room earning instead of getting pulled for repairs.

If you already have bunks in the house, start there. Push on the top bunk. If it moves, call us before the next guest does.
Turnover time is money. A bunk that takes too long to make is a bunk that gets made badly, and a badly made bed shows up in reviews and photos. When we lay out a bunk wall we think about how the cleaner works:
Store bunks are built for one family's kids. In a rental, a new group uses them every few days, and luggage, vacuums, and cleaning carts hit them constantly. The joints loosen, the hardware strips, and the rail that felt fine at install starts to wobble.
Ours are cut and assembled in our shop and fit to the exact wall. If something needs attention later, we're local. For layout options and what each one sleeps, see our guide to bunk room layouts and sleep counts.
Theming is what makes a bunk room photograph well and get booked. But it has to sit on top of a safe, solid bed, not replace it. We shape the theme into the bunk front, the wall behind it, and the lighting, and keep the sleeping surfaces plain and easy to make. More on that in our themed vacation rental design in Orlando page.
Push on the top bunk and check that it's fastened to the wall, that rails are on every open side, and that the mattress doesn't sit higher than the rails. If anything moves or looks off, we can come look at it.
Often, yes. It depends on how the bunk was built. We look at it first and tell you plainly whether it's worth fixing or should be replaced.
They shouldn't. We lay them out so the cleaner can reach each mattress and remake it without climbing in.
Yes. The theme goes on the bunk front, the walls, and the lighting. The rails, ladder, and mattress fit are handled first.
Yes. Many of our owners live out of state. We do the walkthrough in person or over video and send photos as the work moves along.
